The Selfish, Selfless, Synergistic Power of Smiling

In an amazingly powerful 7 minute TED presentation Ron Gutman explains the benefits of smiling. I found this presentation especially rewarding because he used a paneugenesis approach in that he talked about good consequences as a result of smiling. In other words, this approach is about what we can do now to make a better tomorrow.

The idea of discovering what leads to desirable outcomes is the focus of my work and the message I send. I encourage all of us to watch this presentation and work to discover the causes or precursors to desired outcomes. Smiling is an evolutionary contagion to desirable outcomes. Enjoy Ron’s presentation and learn about how a smile is a precursor to a better tomorrow. I look forward to hearing about the desirable outcome precursors you discover and how you create an environment to make them more common.

Science is Good – Confused? – John Oliver Explains Why

John Oliver does a great job of explaining how and why science is being confused by the media. Science is effective in helping us discover how to make our lives better, but the media soundbites and misrepresentation of science makes it seem bad. I encourage you to watch John Oliver’s excellent show about scientific studies.

Looking forward to National Wellness Conference 2016

2016NWCLogo

I first attended the National Wellness Conference in 1998 as a PhD student in Exercise and Wellness Education. I have attended each year since, presenting at most. My experiences and interaction with the goals and objectives of NWI were so positive that I have devoted my career to making wellness as I experienced at the NWC something all can experience.

Each year at the NWC I encounter a group of people who help each other be the best version of themselves. We work to generate comprehensive improvements by creating interactions so everyone and everything benefits. My career and the mission of NWI are in sync. Professionally I strive to make the experiences I have each year at the NWC something all can experience each day because it would mean we all get to live in a better world.

I look forward to learning about the latest in wellness or positive health and catching up with many friends. Although we keep in touch throughout the year, this is a highlight every year for me.

To me this is a way I get to see many Practice Paneugenesis, that is create interactions so everyone and everything benefits. I hope you will join us in St. Paul Minnesota this year. You can learn more about the conference here.

I have linked information if you want to learn more about my presentation, Working Together to Create Sustainable Change.

Hope I see you in Minnesota.

Sex Workers: Same Issues, Same Solution

To me we should always work to create all good with selfish, selfless, synergy to generate comprehensive improvements by creating interactions so everyone and everything benefits. For unique situations, we may think this is not possible. Toni Mac’s TED Presentation, “The Laws that Sex Workers Really Want”,  suggested the use of this way of thinking.

Although we may think that sex workers and sex trafficking as things we should just outlaw or push under the rug, doing so causes more problems than it solves. As Toni Mac explains, there has to be a better way.She outlines why the 4 most used remedies: 1) full criminalization,2) partial criminalization, 3)  Swedish or Nordic Model – end demand approach and, 4) Legalization have actually caused more problems than solutions.

This situation uniquely demonstrates how and why working to create all good using selfish, selfless, synergy to generate comprehensive improvements by creating interactions so everyone and everything benefits, the practice of paneugenesis, is a good approach.

John Robbins Food Revolution is a way to Create All Good

Eating real food has a profound, pervasive positive impact on personal and planetary health. To me, eating mostly whole  plant based foods is a great way to use selfish, selfless, synergy to generate comprehensive improvements and create all good because it creates interactions that benefit everyone and everything.

In this short 10 minute video John Robbins explains many of these benefits from the food revolution he is promoting. I encourage you to listen about how this can lead to a more idealized outcome and a better world for everyone.

Make its  Great Weekend.
